How the estimate works
The tool matches your selections to a published range. A partial job uses the partial-rewire example. A whole-home project uses the nearest size band when the property type and area are known. If no example fits, you see the source ranges together rather than a fabricated total.
The source describes approximate floor areas. The boundary at 1,000 or 2,000 square feet is a way to organize the examples, not a point where a real quote suddenly changes. You still need a proposal based on the circuits involved.
These are another contractor's published figures, attributed in the result. We have not adopted that company's inclusions or operating promises. NYC Knob & Tube Experts plans and manages replacement with licensed and insured contractors; the actual price follows assessment.
Before relying on a budget
Ask whether wall restoration is included. Keep any panel or service work separate enough to understand why it is proposed. If suspect material needs specialist treatment, that work also needs its own plan and price.
For a purchase or insurance deadline, confirm what must be replaced before using a general allowance. The hidden-cost guide explains the gaps that can remain outside an electrical estimate.
