About NYC Knob & Tube Experts
We focus on a problem people rarely plan to have: old wiring discovered during an inspection, renovation or repair.
The discovery is usually only the beginning
You may have been told that K&T needs attention without getting a clear explanation of how much is active. Finding someone willing to take on the replacement can be the next obstacle.
NYC Knob & Tube Experts offers and manages knob and tube replacement throughout New York City. Licensed and insured contractors perform the electrical work. Our focus is helping move the project from an unresolved finding to an assessed, understandable proposal.
A replacement recommendation should make sense
Old wiring deserves a proper explanation. Age alone does not tell you the condition of a circuit, and a new outlet does not establish that the wiring behind it was replaced. The assessment needs to connect what was found to the work being proposed.
That is why the site goes into detail about the system. You should be able to understand the difference between a panel upgrade and a rewire. You should also know what an inspection cannot see, and why a partial replacement needs an appropriate stopping point.
The comprehensive wiring guide is the foundation. The service pages explain how those questions affect particular jobs.
Work planned around the actual building
A house with an accessible basement presents different access questions from an apartment connected to shared building equipment. Finished plaster may affect the route. Occupants may need a carefully planned interruption schedule.
We serve all five boroughs without treating one as the default. The property assessment determines the work. The borough pages explain useful local contexts, while the same NYC electrical requirements apply across the city.
Clear responsibilities before installation
The project arrangements should identify the responsible licensed electrical contractor. Applicable permits and inspections need to be accounted for. If access openings will require another trade to restore the finish, that responsibility should be visible before you accept the quote.
Completion records should explain which circuits were replaced and any old wiring that remains active. When an insurer has imposed a condition, its written request needs to be considered from the start. We do not promise an insurer's acceptance of a report or a particular completion date before the project is assessed.
You do not need to arrive with the solution
Start with what happened. If another electrician declined the work, tell us why. An inspection report or an existing quote can help explain the situation, but you do not need to handle wiring or open equipment to prepare.
Talk to us about the property, or use the project assessment to organize the information you have.
